Opus 1280 is 100 years old!

 

We just celebrated the Centennial of Opus1280 with three concert events.  Held in mid October 2014, the three concerts introduced the audience to the history of Aeolian and specifically, Opus1280.


After explaining the residence organ concept, various rolls were demonstrated.  The rolls selected highlighted the characteristics of the Aeolian organ.

Aeolian organs are orchestral and are suited for transcriptions of opera and symphony orchestra.


During this centennial year, we are busy making recordings which demonstrate Aeolian features.  Harry Rowe Shelley made over 30 transcription (arranged) rolls which show off the Aeolian’s ability to replace a full orchestra.
